7. Computer lab

Computer classroom. Includes 18 workstations and a multimedia projector.

Students learn to use the following computer programs:

  • ADINA thermal, CFD,
  • MATHCAD,
  • Gatecycle,
  • ArCADia-TERMO,
  • Auditor of OZC.

ArCADia-TERMO  is the most popular program designed to prepare energy performance certificates and perform energy audits.

OZC auditor  is used to support the calculation of the design heat load of rooms, determine the seasonal demand for thermal energy to heat buildings and prepare Energy Certificates for buildings and their individual parts.

ADINA Thermal is used to solve problems related to heat transfer in solids, it also enables solving problems of heat transfer by radiation between solids.

Properties:

  • 2D or 3D conduction,
  • convection and radiation,
  • solids and coatings,
  • steady and transient heat transfer.

ADINA CFD is used to troubleshoot fluid flow problems.

Properties:

  • Navier Stokes and Euler equations,
  • incompressible and compressible flows,
  • steady or transient flows,
  • laminar or turbulent flow,
  • flows with heat transfer,
  • mass transfer.

LabVIEW - graphical development environment created by National Instruments. It is used in research centers, for tests and wherever measurements are made. It enables very fast programming (many times faster than in C ++ or Pascal languages) so you can quickly write a program that communicates with devices connected to the computer via USB, RS232,

Gatecycle. General Electric program for simulating the work of power plant and combined heat and power plant cycles.

It enables:

  • designing circuits with gas and steam turbines,
  • cogeneration systems,
  • designing cooling towers and condensers,
  • allows you to predict the effects of changes in external conditions, change of fuel type, pressure losses, and change of turbine blade settings.

Mathcad. A program that enables mathematical calculations and solving equations.

Some possibilities:

  • calculations of expressions and functions, including derivatives, integrals, limits,
  • solving equations and inequalities,
  • solving ordinary and partial differential equations,
  • performing symbolic calculations,
  • calculations on vectors and matrices.
